In two distinct parts Rocky and Altercation, Freedia's dancers (and dance instructors themselves) are Cultural Ambassadors and Translators – first you go behind the scenes into the growing impact of bounce socially and culturally and then you get shown first hand to how shale it all loose and BOUNCE!

Part one is a conversation on the significance of Bounce Music relating to the inter-relatedness of movement and consciousness, the history of this sacred dance and it's place in the New Orleans canon, and how exercising personal space can inform many aspects of our lives and identity. Rocky and Altercation answer any of your questions.

Part two is a get down session beginning with stretching and basic movements, Altercation encourages partnering up of the audience to form lines of trust and encouragement within the group. Rocky and Altercation will then move around the room using touch to help isolate the movement for individuals and give encouragement.

Remember: Be LOOSE and watch all parts of the body to see how the moves are done. Have fun and don't take yourself too seriously!

Big Freedia (pronounced “Free-da”) is the undisputed 'Queen Diva' of Bounce Music, a exciting new urban music rising up from the challenging yet fun-loving nature of the New Orleans housing projects which dominate the city’s street culture. Big Freedia, like other “Sissy” bounce artists, has achieved mainstream success with several New Orleans hit singles such as “Gin in My System” and “Azz Everywhere!” from her albums “An Ha, Oh Yeah” (1999) and “Queen Diva” (2003). She sees her performance as a Bounce artist as an extension of this work, often interacting in a call and response/teacher and student fashion with her audiences. While also running a successful decorating business (for which she has counted the Mayor’s office as a client), Freedia has begun traveling outside the city regularly with her dancers, The Divas, and live DJ, Rusty Lazer, playing to sold out audiences from the East to the West Coast alongside (or onstage with) artists such as Spank Rock, Snoop Dogg, Ninjasonik, Monique, The Rapture, 7 Seconds, and many more.
