At Culture Club we believe in paying respect to the masters of their craft who continue to inspire way beyond their time. Such is the case with the cinematic visionary Georges Méliès, celebrated once again via Martin Scorcese’s Hugo and with the magnificently restored hand colored A Trip to the Moon with new score by AIR, who were so inspired by the maestro’s works to compose a whole new album Le Voyage Dans la Lune (out on Astralwerks).
Proudly taking you on this live improvised scoring journey of A Trip beyond the Moon through the Méliès world of enchantment and other worldly creatures are the mighty LA based trio of futurists MARK DE CLIVE-LOWE on keys and effects, MIGUEL ATWOOD-FERGUSON on viola, DEXTER STORY on drums and toys.
MdCL is the quite the musical wizard around town in multiple groove formats, whether it be with his monthly Church happenings in LA and New York to live dance floor sets and around the world. Check his latest smash album Renegades on Tru Thoughts.
MIGUEL is an arranging, composing, performing force to be reckoned with - from lovingly arranged orchestral interpretations of J Dilla in TIMELESS - Suite For Ma Dukes; his 300+ recording contributions to acclaimed shows with Flying Lotus, Jose James, Bilal, Dwight Trible, Zap Mama and Build An Ark. Miguel is currently recording an album for the mighty BRAINFEEDER.
DEXTER STORY is such the creative force - a multi-instrumentalist and composer performing with the who's who in music in as many different styles and at the epicenter of urban music. His collaborations range from Ravi Coltrane, Meshell, Dublab, Build An Ark, Dwight Trible to Snoop Dogg and Ammon Contact.
Please join the earlier session at 1.00pm, screening the restored A TRIP TO THE MOON with AIR score.
