Thursday, February 23, 2012 DC/JV Death Cab for Cutie and John Vanderslice Photographs by Peter Ellenby The 1314 Space at San Franpsycho Festival Reception Thursday February 23, 2012 5–7pm / Website Peter Ellenby has been taking portraits of both Death Cab For Cutie and John Vanderslice for roughly 15 years. This show reveals not only bodies of photographs that serve as gorgeous documents of amazing musicians' storied careers, but presents a unified group of work that exemplifies Ellenby's own stylistic progressions. From images that compositionally mirror each other and thus serve as beautiful reminders of the shared parts of both Vanderslice and DCFC's journeys, DC/JV presents its subjects' stories intimately, through the eyes of a photographer who has been there since the beginning. This show also serves as a celebration of the 20th Noise Pop Festival, which Ellenby has officially photographed for the last 18 years.

San Francisco based designer and printer Lil Tuffy has been designing gig posters for local and international touring bands since 2002. His work has been exhibited in galleries and festivals all over the US as well as Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Serbia, and the UK. February marks the release of his 500th gig poster since his first poster in 2002. The exhibition features rare and landmark posters for bands including Sonic Youth, The Raconteurs, Devo, X, and events such as Noise Pop, Treasure Island Music Festival and CBGB's 30th Anniversary. This show coincides with Noise pop's 20th anniversary; Tuffy has curated the Noise Pop Poster Series since 2004.

During the Noise Pop Festival (Feb 21–26, 2012) Noise Pop will program live musical broadcasts over the “Bomb Shelter Radio” airwaves on 88.1fm. The live shows will be open to the public.

Join our lineup of esteemed musicians and writers as they read excerpts from another choice selection of music autobiographies, featuring the actual published literary efforts of Ozzy Osbourne, Sammy Hagar, Jewel, Slash, Ted Nugent, Marianne Faithfull, Angela Bowie (wife of David Bowie), Jim Hutton (boyfriend of Freddie Mercury), Christopher Ciccone (brother of Madonna), and many more. Readings performed by Bob Calhoun, Parker Gibbs, Jon Ginoli, Penelope Houston, Carletta Sue Kay, Jennifer Maerz, Erin McDermott, Joshua Mohr, and Joel Selvin. Hosted by Anthony Bedard (Hank IV).
